San Jose Public Library--Vineland Branch

In January, 2008, Anna and Beth told stories at the Vineland Branch of the San Jose Public Library. The program included Samuel Marshak's humorous poem, "Baggage," and Pyotr Yershov's tale, "The Little Humpbacked Horse." Both are known and loved by Russian children and all Russians who were--at one time--children.

"The young people in the audience were so pleased to hear their own language," said one participant.

Poetry Program

In June 2007, Anna and Beth performed at the Sheridan Apartments, an independent living facility in Palo Alto. We recited and sang classic Russian poetry and songs, Anna speaking and singing in Russian and Beth in English. Poets such as Pushkin, Alexei Tolstoy, and Fet were included along with songwriters such as Bulat Otkujava.

At the end, one member of the audience said, "It was like good medicine for the heart."

Peter and the Wolf

On March 10, 2007, along with twenty musicians from the Nova Vista Symphony, we performed "Peter and the Wolf" at the Sunnyvale Library. Over 100 people attended, from babes in arms to adults, and everyone loved it. To see more photos, go to: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sunnyvalelibrary/sets/72157594584600764/
